Sorry but I've been having a little difficulties.... BUT I HAVE A PLAN!!

I'm gonna CUT IT OFF AND START AGAIN!!!

...yes.... WE GONNA GET THIS!!!

Thursday 26 August 2010

So my hair remains nice and soft as I've been using the combination of leave-in conditioner with castor oil to moisturise my hair every night....

...my roots still feel dry though...

...BUT....HOORAY!!! My Argan Oil has arrived today. When I used a branded version of this, the oil penetrated the hair shaft like no oil I've ever used before and it actually straightened the hair a bit too...!!!

...I've got the pure version of the oil and I'm hoping it'll do the same thing....

I'm also planning on doing a protein conditioner at the weekend (1 egg white or whole mixed with conditioner and a little oil)... I'm hoping this will give my hair the protein it needs to become strong and stop breaking...!!

AHHARRH... this is such a lot of work.... BUT I'M DETERMINED...

**says to herself**...just keep thinking of QB... if SHE can do it... I CAN DO IT...

THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX!!!

...so I know you're thinking I must be CRAZY for what I've been SUGGESTING... but

remember the DEFINITION of INSANITY...."doing the same thing, but expecting different results"....

...we've been doing the same thing for years, but DOES YOUR HAIR LOOK ANY BETTER...???

I washed by little boy's hair with CHEAP CONDITIONER last night, and it did ACTUALLY lather up...(kind of...) so I think from now on I will wash my hair with cheap conditioner (and if I really think I need it, put a TINY bit of shampoo with it)

But his hair is clean, and his hair has not been stripped of it's natural moisture any more than it needs to be..

If you can't get to grips with this idea, you can buy herbal/powdered shampoo... the kinds of things our ancestors used on their hair.

Go to Natural Afro Beauty (http://www.naturalafrobeauty.com/index.php)
Try Natural-Laxer Sahara Clay or Herbal Hair Shampoo

ALSO... I MOISTURISED my hair with CASTOR OIL, mixed with a little LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER (I use the Pantene Pro-V NatureFusion Moisture Balance Leave-in Conditioner)

... I roughly put it on my scalp (and gave myself a scalp massage - this helps to stimulate blood to the cells which causes growth)

I also put the leave-in condition over the ends (main body of the hair) and then put the castor oil on top....

I did this before going into the shower & bed....my hair is REALLY SOFT TODAY, and IT DOES NOT FEEL TOO HEAVY...

Thanks to QB, I've begun to think outside of the box and come up with MY OWN REGIME and ways to MANAGE MY HAIR..!!

Monday 23 August 2010

So I've decided to ignore what I've been taught so far... INCLUDING what hairdressers/stylists have advised....

....think about it.... IF OUR HAIRDRESSERS WERE RIGHT, WE'D ALL HAVE GOOD HAIR....!!!

So some methods to consider: When you perm/texturise your hair

(1) coat the entire body of your hair with vaseline (the parts of your hair that have already been permed/texturised) to MAKE SURE that no chemical touches it, even when you rinse/wash your hair.

(2) DO NOT allow the chemical to fully process on your hair (don't leave it for the full length of time) consider partially procesing the hair to keep more of the natural composition/structure of your hair and thus the natural oils/moisture of your hair. You can consider mixing a little oil or conditioner in with the perm/texturiser to reduce its strength.

WHO SAYS YOUR HAIR HAS TO BE BONE STRAIGHT....?? Keeping some loose curl within your hair will make your overall hair look FULLER with MORE BODY.

"TEXLAXING" is when you relax/texturise your hair but not bone straight (anything less than 99%)
(see - http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=aXm6otrUtkQ&feature=related)
(see - http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=1x2Ju1HNAv4&feature=related)

(3) Once it's permed/texturised consider this: SATURATE your hair with conditioner (you can use a cheap conditioner as you will need a lot), then FURTHER SATURATE the hair with OIL (i.e. coconut oil or whatever you have to hand). Then leave your hair with this combination on your hair for a few hours (as many as you like) or even sleep with this conditioning mixture on your hair OVERNIGHT and wash out in the morning.

(4) REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF HEAT YOU USE IN YOUR HAIR (blowdrying/straightening/tonging)

- KEY TIP: CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF... OUR HAIR IS ACTUALLY FRAGILE & DELICATE - TREAT YOUR HAIR AS DELICATELY AS POSSIBLE - AS IF IT'S FINE LACE

- KEY TIP: AS OUR HAIR IS ACTUALLY NOT AS STRONG AS WE THINK IT IS.... (otherwise it wouldn't break so much) DON'T USE COMBS ON YOUR HAIR... USE YOUR FINGERS TO DELICATELY COMB YOUR HAIR.... but if you do HAVE TO use a comb, only use a wide tooth comb

- KEY TIP: DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR... especially with the hard brushes WE are used to using..

IT'S BEEN A WHILE BUT...I'M STILL HERE....

I was getting a bit shaky for a minute there....but then I remembered.. IF YOU DON'T QUIT.... YOU'LL WIN...

....so I LOVED the keratin treatment, but my hair did seem to break A LOT after my re-growth started coming up....

So I'm gonna leave the keratin alone for a minute, BUT THE SHOW IS NOT OVER!!!

I've discovered "QB"---- "THE TRUTH IS HAIR" (see my previous blog) and as a result we have some other options of WAYS TO MANAGE OUR HAIR....

Well I did it on Friday morning and then again yesterday morning and the condition of my hair seems to be GREATLY IMPROVING!!

... It seems to be STRONGER (not breaking as much) and the difference between the healthy and not so healthy parts of my hair is becoming less and less apparent, both to the touch and to the eye...

I'm REALLY PLEASED. I plan to DEEP CONDITION it again on Friday morning....
